Stop Right There! Understanding the Needle Stop Function
Oct 14, 2025Ever wonder what your machine’s needle is planning to do when you hit pause? The Needle Stop function in your status bar holds the answer—and mastering it can make your stitching smoother and more precise.
What Is the Needle Stop Icon?
Located in your machine’s status bar, the Needle Stop icon shows whether your needle will stop up or down when you pause or finish stitching. It’s a small but mighty feature that gives you control over your workflow.
If the icon shows a needle pointing up, your machine is set to stop with the needle raised.
Want the needle to stop down in the fabric? Just tap the icon! It will turn yellow, and the needle image will shift to the down position—indicating that the needle will stay in the fabric when stitching stops.
Why It Matters
Choosing the right needle stop position can help with:
Pivoting corners without losing alignment
Securing stitches before trimming or repositioning
Maintaining control during intricate designs
Bonus Tip: It Remembers!
Whichever position you choose—up or down—your machine will remember it. The setting stays locked in even if you turn the machine off. So you can stitch with confidence, knowing your preferences are right where you left them.
